MEMORIAL DAY in CHICAGO or SF?
The decision has been made to keep the Memorial Day Weekend event in San Francisco.
Although there has been interest in holding the GGWC Wrestling Weekend in Chicago (the
same weekend as IML), not all logistical requirements were addressed. Venues, equipment,
accommodations and travel plans have to be locked in by February 1 to avoid any last
minute changes that could potentially cause hardship on the organizers and participants.

I have not heard any details regarding Chicago hosting the Memorial Day tournament since December. It is past February 1st, perhaps we can work to get closure on the event next week during the San Diego tournament?

OK…
As Struther Martin put it in ‘Cool Hand Luke’: “What we have here is failure to communicate…”
Apparently Josh in Chicago has been working on the logistics of hosting the Memorial Day event in Chicago. However, he neglected to keep all stakeholders in the loop. He apologizes for the oversight, but he is quite confident that he can successfully host the event and have all bases covered.
I have provided Josh a checklist and timeline so that he can confirm his resources and make periodic updates available to stakeholders and interested competitors. Expect to see the first press releases in the first week of March.

I’m a member of the Chicago Wrestling Club. Josh has planned all of this by himself. We have a calendar of events/schedule that I can forward to you later.
We are also sponsoring a booth at “International Mr.Leather”. that weekend. We will be selling shirts and putting on wrestling demo matches. (I guess it will be like the Folsom Street Fair booth you have.) I am sure he will need volunteers to help with the booth. let him know if you’d like to wrestle in a leather-friendly environment. LOL
Josh has NOT informed ANY of our members about this booth. The majority of our members are now straight and have absolutely no idea that the tourney is the WWB National Championships. Josh and Jim have kept all of this under wraps to avoid offending the straight members. I have been told firmly several times that the club is no longer a gay wrestling club. I have been told our straight members would not be there if they knew it was a gay wrestling club.
Be prepared for a different kind of wrestling environment. I would strongly caution you on behavior at this tournament. Josh and I may be the only “friendly faces” you see.
So the tourney is happening. Chicago members know nothing about the meals at the gay bars, the IML leather booth, or the beach wrestling on Monday afternoon.
On behalf of the CWC, I deeply apologize for all mis-communication (past and future) regarding the aspects of this tournament.
